- Screens that need repair rather than immediate replacement
- A clear conversation about the condition of the existing screen
Useful details to have ready
- How many screens are damaged
- Where the damage is: a small hole, a long tear, or mesh pulling away from the edge
- A photo of the whole screen and a close-up of the damaged area
Common questions about window screen repair
Can a small hole in a screen be repaired, or does the mesh need replacing?
It depends on the size and position of the damage and the condition of the rest of the mesh. A photo of the hole and the area around it makes it much easier to talk through the options on the call.
My screen mesh is pulling away from the frame. Is that a repair?
Mesh coming loose along an edge is a common problem. It is usually tied to the spline, the rubber cord that holds the mesh in the groove of the frame. Whether it can be reseated or needs new mesh depends on the condition of the mesh and frame.
Should I choose repair or rescreening?
If the mesh is damaged in one area and otherwise in good shape, start here. If the mesh is worn, brittle or torn across a large area, Screen Rescreening is usually the better starting point. If you are unsure, call and describe it.
